Fall Camping in Michigan

Michigan camping offers not only a wide variety of camping landscapes to choose from but also the chance to camp through four beautiful seasons. Fall camping is a favorite of many. The cool temperatures and earthy fragrance of turning leaves can provide a memorable camping experience. Many of our parks are open through October and several stay open all year.

Autumn hay rides, pumpkin carving, and Halloween themed weekends abound. There are so many ways to enjoy the post-summer weather that it’s hard to know where to start. It’s an opportunity for couples to spend time together in a less crowded environment. Most of the kids are in school so mid-week camping can be almost meditative. Campers can explore shops, wineries, and historic venues around their chosen RV park or campground. The crowds are lighter and the shop keepers have more time to engage in conversation. The days are sunny and the stars shine bright during these cool nights. It’s really so lovely.

You can search our website to find just the right park for your tastes. Sort the database for the area and amenities that matter most to you. You can make a reservation directly on most of our members’ websites. If you’re driving through and not sure when you’ll arrive, this is a good time of year for drop-in traffic from campers. Sites are not as fully booked as they can be in the summer. You’re likely to be able to find the perfect place to stay as you drive through the state.

If it’s a fun Halloween weekend you are looking for you will find plenty of them. Lots of our member parks hold Halloween weekends which are scattered through September and October. You can bring the kids, and join the fun. You will find they have costume contests, trick or treating, hay rides, haunted forts, Halloween crafts, dances, and all types of other things for their campers to enjoy.

We’re looking forward to seeing you around the campgrounds this fall and we hope you’ll give it a try if you’ve never jumped into fall camping yet. Safe travels to all.
